About LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group

We exist for LGBTQIA+ people and seek to create a trusting and supportive community. The Table Church is LGBTQIA+ affirming and believes we are unequivocally part of the image of God. We recognize the harm that faith institutions have caused our community and seek to create a space for queer Christians to fellowship, learn, grow, find community, and be celebrated.

Our LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group offers many spaces to get involved:

Fellowship Group - We offer monthly fellowship activities to build and grow in community with one another. These activities involve all variety of activities in the DMV area such as socials, picnics, game nights, movie viewings and much more.
Processing Group - We offer a semester-based weekly processing group. Due to the harm faith institutions have caused our community, we provide a weekly space for conversation. We share our stories and experiences with each other, without giving advice or being prescriptive. We process our identities and intersectionality by discussing what we as individuals, and collectively as a group, bring to the space each week. Simply, we discuss what needs to be discussed, whether personal life, family life, church life, dating life, or community life.
Additional Spaces – Other spaces to get involved often happen organically. For example, we have had bible studies led by members, formal sessions led by a queer pastor to deconstruct the “clobber passages” (offered to the whole church community), and we have an annual Pride Planning Committee.

If you are someone who self-identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and are interested in connecting in any of the various ways described above with the goal of navigating through the intersections of faith and gender or sexual identity, consider joining our community!

NOTE: This group assumes an LGBTQIA+ affirming worldview and is focused on what comes after that discussion. Your own internal struggle, if any, is welcome.
